Transportation
Transportation in Jerusalem is basic and you will not find any subway or metro. The common mode of transportation is the bus and there are plenty of services that leave from 2 main stations: the Railway station situated in the south of Jerusalem and the Central Bus station situated in the north of Jerusalem. The bus services are on time and well organized except for Saturdays (the day of Jewish Sabbath) when there is practically no transportation available. You can also opt for the taxi service in Jerusalem.
Attraction
There is not a corner in Jerusalem that is not an attraction in itself. A city that is the birth place of three of the biggest religion of the world has a lot to offer. Some of the most famous attractions include:
* Church of the Holy Sepulchre: This is the holiest Christian place of worship in entire Jerusalem and is also known as the site of crucifixion, burial and resurrection of Jesus. It was constructed by Emperor Constantine in 335 and the walls speak louder than words of damage and history.
* Temple Mount (Al-Haram al-Sharif): Also known as Mount Moriah, this is a place that holds a lot of importance for Jews, Muslims, and Christians. This is one of the famous landmarks in Jerusalem and a must visit place. The golden dome on the Temple Mount glistens with the radiance of the sun and is a distinguishable feature of the Jerusalem skyline.
* Western Wall (HaKotel HaMaaravi): This is known as the Wailing Wall and is the most sacred site for prayers by Jewish across the world. This was built by King Herod and its length is 1,916ft.
* Via Dolorosa: Also known as the road of sorrow, this is the route followed by Jesus when he was being taken for crucifixion.
Children places
Jerusalem has several places for children’s as well and some of the attractions include the Time Elevator and the Bloomfield Science Museum. Apart from this there is a Tisch Family Zoological Garden and the Liberty Bell Park.
Shopping
Shopping in Jerusalem can be fun as well as a fascinating experience. You have the modern city stores as well as the Old City markets. You can shop for some great souvenirs that include handicrafts, Dead Sea cosmetics, judaica, Israeli glass and artworks and ceramics. There are 3 important shopping zones in Jerusalem and they are the Kenion shopping mall for clothing and jewelry, the Muslim Quarter for cheap religious icons, and the Jewish Quarter for trinklets and souvenirs.
One of the popular markets is the Mahane Yehuda Market that sells different types of food produce including salads, spices, and pastries.
Nightlife
People in Jerusalem are known as night owls and you will find a vibrant night life here. There are several pubs and bars in downtown Jerusalem that are open till the wee hours of the morning. Bars offer everything from American beer to Spanish tapas and some of the finest Scottish whisky. There are some bars in East Jerusalem also but they don’t serve in alcoholic drinks.
Culture
The culture in Jerusalem has a strong Arabic feel to it, which is evident in traditional crafts, clothing and food.

Tu b'Shvat ('New Year of Trees'), Pesach (Passover), Yom HaShoah, Yom Yerushalayim (Jerusalem Day), Shavuot (Pentecost), Rosh Hashanah (Jewish New Year), Yom Kippur (The Day of Atonement) and Sukkot (Feast of Tabernacles).
Sports & Sport activities
Jerusalem doesn’t have much to offer in terms of sports and the two main sports played here are soccer and basketball.
