Jerusalem is The capital of Israel, Jerusalem is the largest city and is situated between the Mediterranean Sea, the Judean Mountains and the northern tip of the Dead Sea. Considered to be one of the most religious places on the planet, Jerusalem has much more to offer than religion and a deep rooted history. Jerusalem can be divided into two parts: the modern Jerusalem or the new city and the walled city of the old city. The altitude of the old Jerusalem is around 760m and lies on a plateau surrounded by the Mount of Olives in the East and Mount Scopus in the North East. The climate of Jerusalem is purely Mediterranean with hot and dry summers and wet and cold winters. Snowfall is not common but it does happen once in a couple of years
