Netanya is one of the liveliest coastal towns of the Sharon coastal plain. Transportation
Transportation is not at all a problem in Netanya with Eged, the largest Israeli Bus company driving on most of the routes within the city and making it completely accessible for tourists. If you are not comfortable riding around in a bus then you can rent a car too. There are several car rental agencies in Netanya including the big ones like Hertz, Avis, Budget or Eldan.

Apart from car rentals, you can even hire a taxi in Netanya. Most of the taxis are comfortable and in good condition. The taxis consist of some of the best car brands in the world including Mercedes, Skoda and Volkswagen.

There are plenty of recreational facilities and options for both adults and children as well. The first thing that you will note is that Netanya is quite a friendly city and its streets are safe for both women and children. There are several options of children in Netanya including:

• Horse Riding: The best place for horse riding is at the beach and at the ranches around Netanya. One of the most popular places is the Havatzelet Hasharon.

• Reptile Park: This is an interesting place for children and is operated by Shfayim Kibbutz.

• Go Karting: There is a huge go-carting site situated near the new industrial section at east Netanya. This is a perfect place for children aged 8 or even more.

• Para Gliding: Paragliding is a great adventure sport for both children and adults. In netanya, children can enjoy the backai (a motorized glide).

• IKEA: This is a global shop that has a nice Gymboree for children of ages 3-8 coupled with a nice and affordable restaurant and a special kids' menu.

 

Shopping
The shopping scene in Netanya has grown over the years in leaps and bounds and has also moved to the new “Poleg” industrial area. Another nice mall is the Hasharon Mall situated at the heart of the city center on Herzl Street.

 

Nightlife
Nightlife in Netanya is not as lively as compared to some of the other cities in Israel but it surely is entertaining. Restaurants, bars and pubs are open till midnight and even much after at Ha-Atzma'ut Square.

 

Culture
The culture in Netanya will offer glimpses of Yemenite Jewish Heritage and is dominated by history and art.

 

Events & festivals
Most of the events in Herzliya are religious in nature. Some of the popular events include: Pesach (Passover), Tu b'Shvat ('New Year of Trees'), Yom Yerushalayim (Jerusalem Day), Yom HaShoah, Shavuot (Pentecost), Yom Kippur (The Day of Atonement), Rosh Hashanah (Jewish New Year), and Sukkot (Feast of Tabernacles).

 

Sports & Sport activities
Football is a much loved sport in Netanya and the city has three football teams. The main team is called Maccabi Netanya, and their local arch rival is Beitar Nes Tubruk. The third football team is Maccabi HaSharon. Basketball is also a prominent sport in Netanya with Elitzur Netanya representing the city in the 2nd tier of National basketball event. There are baseball teams also in the city with Netanya Tigers representing the city in the Israel Baseball League.

Apart from these, Maccabi Netanya also has their own fencing and boxing club while Hapoel Netanya has gymnastic and judo clubs. Netanya is also the home for paragliding in Israel. There are some moderate cliffs that offer the opportunity for paragliding and add to it the cool offshore breeze.
